We landed in Dublin from a ferry we caught at Hollyhead, Wales. After spending the night in Dublin, we drove to the western part of the country and then south, making a circle that ended in Dublin again. We stayed the night at Galway (2 nights), Limerick, Killarney, Cork, and Killkenny.
Here are a few of our pictures (in no particular order). Click on the thumbnail to see a larger version of the picture.
| There are fewer thatched roofs in Ireland than there once was, mainly because fire insurance is much higher. | The wall around Trim Castle. This wall was used in the filming of the movie Braveheart. | Church ruins, cemetery, and tower. Notice the high door to the tower. Monks climbed a ladder to reach the door, then pulled it up when Viking invaders attacked them. |
